Amy Hertle Portrait

I received my Master degree in Social Work from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2000. I completed my clinical practice with Harbor Counseling where I specialized in adolescent and family therapy with a focus on promoting family preservation and unification.

My experience includes work with individuals of all ages and from a variety of backgrounds. I have extensive practice in outpatient treatment, inpatient mental health, crisis response, community mental health, and in-home intervention programs.

I am currently on the Board of Advisors with Harbor Shelter and Counseling Services.

Specialties /Services

I provide clinical therapy services for:

  • Individuals experiencing crisis, depression, anxiety, and concerns with identity, anger management, grief and loss, abortion and coaching in career and life decisions.
  • Couples struggling with marital or partner conflicts, divorce, separation and sexual issues.
  • Families dealing with issues involving parenting, step-family conflicts, life stages and conflict resolution

My Approach

While I am influenced by several theoretical approaches including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, solution focused and a strength based focus, I believe that individuals benefit and respond to an approach unique to their personality and needs. As a result, my approach is eclectic, flexible and tailored to meet each individual. I use a down-to-earth, compassionate style and strive to develop a trusting relationship and safe, supportive environment where people will discover their own strength, direction, and purpose.
